ISCHE’s Call for Peace
ISCHE asks to stop the violation of international humanitarian law and the law of war including the Geneva Conventions of 1949, the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions, and customary international law. This implies to respect human dignity, physical integrity, to provide safe humanitarian corridors, and to immediately end attacks on civilians.
At present, it is the people in Ukraine who urgently need rest and recovery from what has been done to them by military aggression. Especially children and young people are traumatized by war and suffer from losing their relatives and fleeing their home country under dangerous circumstances.
ISCHE therefore pleas for an immediate ceasefire and encourages efforts on both sides to stay in constructive dialogue for establishing peace and keep all channels open for diplomatic exchange. We express our solidarity with our colleagues in Ukraine and all those who are affected by this war and who are trying to be heard while facing massive repressions, including children and young people whose education and wellbeing are deeply at risk. Too much harm has been caused and this war needs to end.
